Naturally, the Giant Barbarian can make great use of the two equipment sets that were clearly designed with Barbarians in mind, the Wrath Set and the Bonespike Set. You could also pick up the Halberd of Vigilance during Act 2. Alternatively, you could select a Greataxe for better potential damage, such as the Very Heavy Greataxe, Blooded Greataxe. Because of the extra Bonus Action, Thief Rogues can virtually always remain Stealthed, or Dash/Disengage to get away with their Cunning Action. Thief Rogues also gain resistance to Fall damage , which comes in handy more often than one might think.
The Sorcerer is one of the few Spellcasting-only classes, one that is nearly impossible to build into a melee fighter without multi-classing. Like the Wizard, Sorcerers can access a massive variety of useful spells that range from devastatingly damaging to enraging environmental effects.
Karlach : Best suited for the Berserker subclass, Karlach is capable of dealing some of the most consistent, highest-hitting melee attacks on her own, and with two supports you won't be at a loss for HP or dispels
When it comes to equipment, the Oath of Ancients Paladin will get a ton of mileage out of the " Hellrider's Pride " gauntlets, which can be stolen from Zevlor during act 1, or obtained as a reward for completing the "Investigate Kagha" quest. These gauntlets grant resistance to bludgeoning, slashing, and piercing damage to any creature healed by the wearer, essentially working like the Blade Ward cantrip. Helping out the refugees will also award players with Wapira's Crown , which heals the wearer for 1d6 whenever they heal another creature. All of these synergize with Healing Radiance tremendously well and will also apply when using Lay on Hands. To shine in a support role, add The Whispering Promise . This ring applies two turns of Bless to anyone the wearer heals, allowing the Paladin to pulse a short-lived bless whenever they use Healing Radiance, or apply it alongside their healing with Lay on Hands.
Though Sorcerers might think they should stay away from combat, a Draconic Bloodline Sorcerer performs just as well up close as they do at a range. Their higher AC and HP compared to other casters is really noticeable, and the class' use of Metamagic skills to amplify the effects of their spellcasting just makes close-range and AoE spells hit more often, or hit harder.
At level Six, Berserkers gain the "Mindless Rage" ability, which grants them immunity to the Charmed and Frightened status effects while raging. It also prevents the "Calm Emotions" spell from ending their rage. At level 10, they gain "Intimidating Presence," allowing them to inflict fear on a target as an action. This can be useful for neutralizing foes and rendering them more vulnerable to attacks.
