The Death Domain grants a Cleric abilities related to death, undeath, and necromancy, not unlike the Necromancy School available to Wizards. At level one, Death Clerics receive proficiency with martial weapons and gain the "Reaper" ability , which allows them to target one extra creature with their Necromancy Cantrips. This pairs well with their Domain Cantrip "Touch of Death" and the "Toll the Dying" cantrip added by patch 8. They will also receive False Life and Ray of Sickness as Domain Spells.
Overall, the Hexblade Warlock is easily the best option for a Warlock focusing on melee combat, especially when paired with the Pact of the Blade to gain extra attacks at level 5. Their ability to utilise several useful combat spells, like Wrathful Smite, Shield, and Elemental Weapon, along with their ability to wear medium armour and use shields, makes them uniquely suited to fighting on the front lines. Their lower health pool when compared to most melee classes is offset by their Spectres, who can help to draw some attention off them, and their access to defensive spells like Blink and the aforementioned shield.
To avoid being hindered by your own icy terrain, it's important to pick up the Hoarfrost Boots from the Inquisitor's Chamber at the Githyanki Creche too, taking the opportunity to buy Winter's Clutches from Lady Esther at the Rosymorne Monastery Trail too (These can also be acquired by completing the quest "Avenge Glut's Circle" in the Underdark, as long as players side with Glut.)
After clearing out the three Goblin Camp leaders, players can return to Zevlor to pick up Wapira's Crown , which will heal the wearer for 1d6 Hit Points whenever they heal another creature. This can aid with survivability and help to keep a Life Cleric alive longer. Next on the list is a trip to the Underdark, since helping Omeluum to investigate the Tadpole will unlock the Ring of Salving for purchase. This ring causes all healing effects to heal two additional Hit Points, which can be handy early on.
The Champion subclass is simple and effective, providing straightforward bonuses that can benefit many other classes. This is especially true of Rogues , who benefit immensely from the Improved Critical Hit effect. When stacked with equipment that further lowers the target number for critical hits (which stack in Baldur's Gate 3), it becomes possible to create a critical hit monster very easily.
Most of Baldur's Gate 3 's classes only have three subclasses to choose from, but clerics are able to choose from seven options. The domains of Life, Light, Trickery, Knowledge, Nature, Tempest, and War all offer a cleric different abilities. A Cleric chooses their subclass at level one to reflect the power of their god's domain. What subclass they can choose is limited by the domains made available by their chosen Deity (which is also selected at level one).
Fiend Warlocks made a pact with an entity known for corrupting and destroying and often served those ends through their actions, intentionally or otherwise. Fiend Warlocks immediately receive the power "Dark One's Blessing," which allows them to receive HP equal to their Charisma modifier plus their level whenever they reduce a foe to 0 HP. This helps keep the Fiend's health topped off and allows them greater survivability.
After reaching level seven, Arcane Archers gain access to Curving Shot. This allows them to spend a Bonus action when they miss with any magical ranged attack to immediately make the same attack on the next closest target, once per turn. They also gain Magic Arrow, an ability that makes all of their ranged attacks magical for the purpose of overcoming Resistance. They also get three extra Arcane Arrows per rest and may select one more Arcane Shot. Finally, at tenth level, the Arcane Archer gets three extra Arcane Arrows per rest and learns one more Arcane Shot.
When it comes to multiclassing, the Tempest Cleric has some excellent choices available. The Storm Sorcerer can provide them with added mobility and synergizes well with their preferred damage types while taking advantage of the damage maximization from the Tempest Cleric's Destructive Wrath. Access to Metamagic is also tremendously useful here. Four Elements Monk is also a good choice for players who want to fight up close, providing additional elemental damage and once again taking advantage of Destructive Wrath to empower its Thunder and Lightning abilities. (It's also worth noting that the Four Elements Monk can use its Ki spells while silenced.)
Finally, level ten grants "Spreading Spores," allowing them to create clouds of spores that deal their "Halo of Spores" damage to targets within the area of effect. The Druid must be under the effect of "Symbiotic Entity" to use this ability.
Depending on your choice of Arcane Shots, you could also make use of the Psychic Damage equipment (like the Braindrain Gloves and Boots of Psionic Movement), or the Sparkstruck Set (like The Speedy Lightfeet, Jolty Vest, and Sparkswall) to great effect. Poison damage equipment also deserves a mention here, bg3 Tournament though the sheer amount of poison-resistant foes makes it impractical.
