The Githyanki are a severely underrated racial choice for most classes, as their innate race spells and Astral Knowledge passive, plus armor and weapon proficiencies, can open up a lot of doors for traditionally non-martial classes. Wizards have no shortage of spells to choose from, but they can be lacking in spell slots.

The Arcane Archer subclass uses Arcane Arrows to deal damage at a distance while debuffing their targets in various ways. When taking this subclass at level three, the fighter immediately gains proficiency in Arcana and Nature, and one of the following three cantrips: Guidance, Light, or True Strike. They also get four Arcane Arrows per short rest, which can be used to perform Arcane Shots. Speaking of Arcane Shots, they choose three types of Arcane Shot to learn from the list below.

The Duergar are a great choice for classes that need to remain defensive while staying mobile in combat. Though the Rogue gains the ability to go invisible at Level 9 with Supreme Sneak, the Duergar gain the ability to turn invisible from Level 5 once per long rest, granting Rogues this powerful skill far earlier than most will normally get it.

At Level 1, the best two Expertise choices are Stealth and Persuasion, as these play well into the Rogue's strengths in sneaky combat and dialogue checks. Later down the line, players can pick up Insight and Sleight of Hand at Level 6, though players who don't do much pickpocketing may find that Deception is a more useful skill to gain Expertise in here.

The improved Mage Hand at Level 1 is a strict upgrade over the default Mage Hand, and it saves a level 1 spell slot. At Level 5, Githyanki gain Misty Step, a normally level 3 spell that can be incredibly valuable for this Spell Slot-starved class.

Since the Spore Druid can perform quite a bit of necromancy already, bg3 tournament it's well worth tracking down the book "Necromancy of Thay" during Act 1 to unlock its secrets. Finishing the book will take until Act 3, but results in a ton of extra undead minions in combat.

Oath of Devotion Paladins are the classical Knights in Shining Armor , defenders of the weak and the greater good. They can Channel their Oath using Divine Rebuke, placing a divine ward on an ally that deals radiant damage to anything that attacks them with a melee attack.

The Eldritch Knight subclass allows the fighter to learn a small selection of spells from the schools of Evocation and Abjuration , allowing them access to magic to buff themselves and damage their foes. They gain the ability to cast first-level spells once they reach Fighter Level three, with two spell slots to use when doing so.

The Divination School is a tremendously powerful two-level dip for any build that has room for it, assuming the player is confident in their ability to use Portent Dice at the right moments. On the opposite side of things, a Divination Wizard with levels in Fighter for armor and Action Surge can also be tremendously effective.

The Eldritch Knight serves as a way for Fighters to gain limited access to magic and, as a result, the ability to buff themselves and inflict elemental damage. Since they cast spells using the Intelligence stat, the Eldritch Knight subclass is particularly well suited to the Githyanki race's default bonus stats, though the full release allows players to adjust racial stat bonuses however they wish.

Players will lose out on Arcane Recovery slots, but lose very few other benefits of both classes. Clerics rely on Wisdom to cast, however, which can lead to competition between Wisdom and Intelligence at every ability score improvement opportunity.

If you are dead set on including a character in your party, simply talk to Withers to respec them to one of the optimal Rogue companion classes listed above. This way, you won't miss out on that character's questline, and you won't have to suffer from an improperly balanced party.

Karlach : Best suited for the Berserker subclass, Karlach is capable of dealing some of the most consistent, highest-hitting melee attacks on her own, and with two supports you won't be at a loss for HP or dispels

Act 3 offers some incredibly powerful weapons and items for a Vengeance Paladin. If you're using a two-handed weapon to maximize your damage, you could pick up Balduran's Giantslayer from the Dragon's Sanctum. This incredible sword doubles the bonus damage granted by your Strength Modifier whenever it connects, while also allowing you to increase in size (gaining temporary hitpoints, boosted damage, and advantage on Strength Checks and Saving Throws) once per short rest. If you're playing as a Githyanki, or respecced Lae'zel into a Vengeance Paladin, then the Silver Sword of the Astral Plane is also a good choice. It grants additional psychic damage on hit while also providing advantage on Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma Saving Throws. It also gives resistance to psychic damage, immunity to the "Charmed" status, and the special attack "Soulbreaker" to stun enemies.
