Ranged weaponry is preferable for this since the turns remaining will decrease by 2 whenever damage is taken. The Darkfire Shortbow (Sold by Dammon in Act 2 at the Last-Light Inn) is a great choice for this since it offers access to the Haste Spell and resistance to fire and cold damage. Make sure to pick up the Ring of Arcane Synergy in Act 1 at the Githyanki Creche (Inquisitor's Chamber) to gain turns of the Arcane Synergy buff whenever you deal damage with a cantrip, which will add extra damage to weapon attacks based on the wearer's spellcasting modifier.
Collect The Protecty Sparkswall clothing from Grymforge in Act 1 for a bonus to Spell Save DCs and a boost to AC while you have lightning charges, which pairs well with The Spellsparkler Staff. If taking fighter or cleric levels, or playing as a race with inherent shield proficiency, players should also collect The Real Sparky Sparkswall (shield) at Grymforge for even more AC (this unfortunately cannot stack with the Bracers of Defense, but the synergy with lightning charges makes it worthwhile regardless.) Shield users can also get the Shield of Devotion from Talli in Act 2, gaining an extra level 1 spell slot and the ability to cast Aid once per long rest. In Act 3, players can swap this for the Shield of the Undevout or Viconia's Walking Fortress instead.

The Wizard in Baldur's Gate 3 can choose to specialize in any one of the eight schools of magic: Abjuration, Conjuration, Divination, Enchantment, Evocation, Necromancy, Illusion, and Transmutation. Each subclass choice offers the Wizard abilities relating to their mastery of a chosen school and bonuses when using spells that match their school. This allows players to choose which spell schools they want to get the most out of with that character and is especially useful when scribing spells into the spellbook from scrolls.
The Shapeshifter Hat, Armor of Moonbasking, and Mutiliated Carapace can be found during Act 3, all of which are designed to benefit a character while in Wildshape (or, in the case of the Mutilated Carapace, when disguised in any way.) The Armor of Moonbasking grants 22 temporary HP while in Wildshape, reduces damage taken by 1 while those temporary HP remain, grants a +Nintendo Switch 2 launch Lineup bonus to AC, and grants advantage to saving throws against spells. All of these effects remain while in Wildshape. The Shapeshifter Hat increases the number of Wildshape charges by 1, while the Mutilated Carapace grants +1 to attack and damage rolls while shapeshifting or disguised.
In addition to Armor, Weapon, and Saving Throw proficiencies that vary for each class, the pool of Skills you can choose from are different for each class. These cannot be changed once you get past character creation without resetting your build.
In terms of equipment, Trickery Clerics can get some very useful gear from the Gauntlet of Shar in Act 2. The Dark Justiciar set can be found throughout the Gauntlet and offers powerful bonuses relating to stealth and mobility. Players can acquire the Dark Justiciar Helmet in a Gilded Chest found at X: -822, Y: -753. This helmet boosts saving throws against spells, reduces the number needed to score a critical hit by 1 while the wearer is obscured, and grants a +1 to constitution saving throws.
The Divination School grants Wizards the abilities "Divination Savant" and "Portent" at level two. The former allows them to scribe Divination spells into their spellbook for half the normal cost , while the latter allows them to gain two "Portent Dice," which are rolled at random after a long rest. The divination wizard can replace any attack roll or saving throw within 9m with one of their portent dice as a reaction, allowing them to swap in a high number to help allies or a low number to sabotage foes.
Level six War Clerics gain "Channel Divinity: War God's Blessing," allowing them to grant +10 to the attack roll of a nearby ally by spending a Channel Divinity charge. Level seven gives them the Domain Spells "Stoneskin" and "Freedom of Movement," allowing them to give a creature resistance to (non-magical) piercing, bludgeoning, and slashing damage, and allowing them to grant immunity to movement penalties from all sources.
