Baldur's Gate 3 can be a tough game for someone new to the series, or new to CRPG Dungeons and Dragons -like games in general. A well-balanced party composition should have some kind of support class, which the Cleric happens to excel at . The best Cleric builds aren't necessarily those that deal the most damage, but those that make full use of this class' unique quirks.
Since the Battle Master specializes in Combat Maneuvers, they can benefit a lot from weapons with longer reach. Great options early on include the Monster Slaying Glaive (Act 1, Sold by Roah Moonglow at the Goblin Camp), the Sorrow Glaive (Act 1, Inside the Druid Grove's Vault), The Skinburster Halberd (Act 1, in the Inquisitor's Chamber at the Githyanki Creche), The Returning Pike (Act 1, Sold by the Goblin Trader at the Goblin Camp), and the Unseen Menace Pike (Act 1, Sold by the Trader in the Githyanki Creche.) During Act 2 players can grab the Drakethroat Glaive from Roah Moonglow in Moonrise, which allows them to buff weapons with elemental damage and offers tremendous versatility. Lann Tarv, also in Moonrise Towers, sells the Halberd of Vigilance. This Halberd grants its wielder advantage on any attack made as a reaction (ideal for attacks of opportunity) alongside a +1 bonus to initiative and advantage on perception checks. If you choose to free the Nightsong you can also pick up the Moonlight Glaive, which can conjure glowing butterflies around a target via a special attack. These glowing butterflies grant advantage on attacks against that target.
The War Domain grants "Guided Strike" at level two, allowing the Cleric to add +10 to their attack roll by spending a charge of Channel Divinity. They then get the spells "Magic Weapon" and "Spiritual Weapon" at level three, letting them imbue a weapon with magic (turning it into a +1 weapon) or create a floating weapon to attack alongside them. Spiritual Weapon can be cast as a bonus action, making it easy to set up in any combat encounter.
During Act 3,you can access some powerful armor and weapons that benefit the Battle Master. The Helldusk Armour , acquired from the House of Hope by defeating Raphael, is a great heavy armor option that allows the wearer to fly and reduces incoming damage by 3. It also provides resistance to fire and burns enemies when you succeed a saving throw against their spells. The Helldusk Boots from the top floor of Wyrm's Rock Fortress complement the Armour, allowing the wearer to automatically succeed a saving throw by spending their reaction. They also allow the wearer to teleport, causing a blast of fire wherever they reappear, making them useful for dealing with foes at range. Add in the Helldusk Helmet (found in the House of Hope) to gain immunity to critical hits and a +2 bonus to saving throws against spells. The Immolating Gaze Action the helmet grants will allow you to frighten foes and deal fire damage if they're burning. Before you can get your hands on the Helldusk Armor, consider using the Reaper's Embrace Armor you can loot from Ketheric at the end of Act 2.

An important item to mention is the Potent Robe , obtained in Act 2 by speaking with Alfina, but only if you aided the Tieflings during act 1. Players wanting to stack up their Charisma even higher should look into Duke Ravengard's Longsword , which also grants +2 Charisma and is an excellent weapon for Warlocks using Pact of the Blade.

Overall, the Hexblade Warlock is easily the best option for a Warlock focusing on melee combat, especially when paired with the Pact of the Blade to gain extra attacks at level 5. Their ability to utilise several useful combat spells, like Wrathful Smite, Shield, and Elemental Weapon, along with their ability to wear medium armour and use shields, makes them uniquely suited to fighting on the front lines. Their lower health pool when compared to most melee classes is offset by their Spectres, who can help to draw some attention off them, and their access to defensive spells like Blink and the aforementioned shield.
When it comes to multiclassing, the Tempest Cleric has some excellent choices available. The Storm Sorcerer can provide them with added mobility and synergizes well with their preferred damage types while taking advantage of the damage maximization from the Tempest Cleric's Destructive Wrath. Access to Metamagic is also tremendously useful here. Four Elements Monk is also a good choice for players who want to fight up close, providing additional elemental damage and once again taking advantage of Destructive Wrath to empower its Thunder and Lightning abilities. (It's also worth noting that the Four Elements Monk can use its Ki spells while silenced.)
