Updated on 20th April 2025, by Thomas Hawkins: With the addition of Patch 8's new subclasses to Baldur's Gate 3, players can select the Circle of the Stars for their Druids. This new subclass makes use of their Wildshape Charges to embody constellations and gain powerful new abilities, including firing blasts of light, healing a target for free after casting a spell, and unleashing a radiant breath attack. This guide has been updated to include information on this new subclass and discuss equipment and multiclassing options that benefit the Circle of the Stars.

The Necromancy School is excellent on its own, but can also benefit greatly from mixing in the Circle of Spores Druid. With the ability to raise powerful undead using Wizard Spells and weaker cannon fodder as a reaction using Spore Druid, players can quickly magic up a small army once enemies start dying. Whether multiclassing or not, players should pick up the Necromancy of Thay book in Act 1 and unlock its secrets. This will eventually earn players a powerful new ability, summoning a squad of Ghouls to assist them once per long rest.

In Act 2, Players should pick up the Incandescent Staff from Talli at the Last Light Inn for +1 to spell attack rolls and the ability to cast fireball for free once per long rest. Finally, during Act 3, players can track down the Staff of Spellpower (+1 Spell Save DC and Spell Attack Rolls, can be used to cast any known spell for free once per long rest), Woe (+1 Spell Save DC and Spell Attack Rolls, restores HP when enemies fail saves against your spells, allows casting of blight for free once per long rest), and Markoheshkir (Same as the Staff of Spellpower but with a unique ability that lets players access additional spells and secondary effects based on a damage type of their choice.)

At Levels 2, 5, 7, 9, and 11, Rogues don't have any leveling choices to make. But because the class can learn four Feats, the choices that you do make while leveling this BG3 Rogue build matter a lot more. The table below displays recommended choices to make at each level-up that will synergize well with the stealthy Thief subclass playstyle.

As a Rogue multiclassing options can be hard to nail down, because the class is so focused on stealth throughout all three of its subclasses. One powerful pairing for the Thief rogue in particular is the Gloomstalker Ranger, which requires players to put three points into the Ranger class to unlock.

At Level 1, the best two Expertise choices are Stealth and Persuasion, as these play well into the Rogue's strengths in sneaky combat and dialogue checks. Later down the line, players can pick up Insight and Sleight of Hand at Level 6, though players who don't do much pickpocketing may find that Deception is a more useful skill to gain Expertise in here.

Indeed, the Fighter multiclass is one of the most common options for players to pick in Baldur's Gate 3 because it doesn't require much investment to see great returns. By putting just two levels into Fighter, players unlock Action Surge, which grants an additional Action for a turn at the cost of a Bonus Action.

The Outlander background doesn't give proficiency in Perception or Insight, so feel free to pick up these two skills with this background combination too. As a Druid, picking up Nature or Religion can be good for RP purposes, though there aren't quite as many uses for these skills in the game.

Should players use Dazzling Ray, they can release a light that Blinds all creatures in its path. Those affected by the Blind Status can only see and hit within 3 meters of them, and even then have Disadvantage to their Attack Rolls. Meanwhile, all Attacks against Blinded targets have Advantage. Even if opponents don’t get hit by Dazzling Ray, the Fabricated Arbalest has an Illuminating Shot that affects its targets with a turn of Radiating Orb, giving them -1 to Attack Rolls for the durat

The Hat of the Sharp Caster, found in Act 3, will allow a spellcaster to reroll 1s and 2s on their damage rolls with spells, helping to increase the damage dealt by all spells. You can also pick up the legendary staff "Markoheshkir" from the Wizard Tower Accessible Worldbuilding via Sorcerous Sundries. This powerful staff allows you to attune yourself to an element once per short rest, gaining bonus spells and passive bonuses based on your choice. While this staff can be handy for any spellcaster, Evocation Wizards can really make the most of it thanks to their Sculpt Spells and Empowered Evocation abilities.
