As a support sub-class, the Life Domain Cleric can deal damage when it needs to, but most of the time players will stay far from enemies and close to their teammates, ready with a buff or a heal when needed. The Disciple of Life passive gives a bit of extra healing with each spell cast, and can even heal themself with each cast at later levels.
Players seeking out a particularly powerful helmet should take the time to fight Grym at the Adamantine Forge during Act 1 or Act 2, acquiring the Grymskull Helmet in the process. As the only Heavy Helm in the entire game, the Grymskull Helmet provides immunity to critical hits, resistance to fire damage, and the ability to cast Hunter's Mark once per long rest.

At level six, Necromancy Wizards get the abilities "Undead Thralls: Additional Undead" and "Undead Thralls: Better Summons." The Ranger multiclass option for Druids is a bit more of a memey build, but a relatively effective one nonetheless. By dipping three levels into the Ranger class as a Druid, a character will be able to select a Ranger subclass.
At several levels, players are given free spells that don't need to be slotted in and out of the spellbook. These spells include Bless and Cure Wounds at Level 1, Aid and Lesser Restoration at Level 3, and Revivify and Beacon of Hope at Level 5.
At level six, Divination Wizards gain the ability "Expert Divination." This gives them a "prophecy" after a short rest, which is a special criterion that will allow them to regain spent Portent Dice when fulfilled. These can include tasks like defeating a certain kind of foe or inflicting a certain type of damage.
The Great Old One Warlock is one of the best Warlock builds because of its access to powerful, battle-turning control spells that complement the class spell list. By binding oneself to a pact with the Great Old One, Warlocks gain the Mortal Reminder passive, which makes enemies Frightened on crits.
At level two, the School of Transmutation offers "Transmutation Savant" and "Experimental Alchemy." The former halves the cost of scribing Transmutation spells , while the latter allows the creation of twice as many alchemical solutions when performing alchemy (if the Wizard succeeds a DC15 Medicine Check each time.) Players who enjoy brewing their own potions should definitely consider this School.
Lightning Damage is the way to go with Conjuration Wizardry even when not multiclassing, since wet opponents will receive double damage from lightning. Cold damage can also be quite effective with the right gear, like the Winter's Clutches Gloves (Act 1, Sold by Lady Esther on the Rosymorne Monastery Trail or given by Sovereign Glut for completing the quest "Avenge Glut's Circle") and Hoarfrost Boots (Act 1, found in the Inquisitor's Chambers at the Githyanki Creche.)
In Baldur's Gate 3 , a Paladin is a warrior empowered by their adherence to a sacred oath. Be it to protect the innocent as a Knight in Shining Armor, upholding the ideals of protecting Life and Nature, or commitment to Justice and Retribution, the Paladin is defined by their Oath in many ways. Each Oath serves both gameplay and narrative purpose, with Paladins who break their Oath during gameplay becoming a different subclass known as the "Oathbreaker."
Going back on their word or engaging in cruelty will cause a Paladin who swore the Oath of Devotion to become an Oathbreaker. This makes it an especially tricky subclass to maintain when playing as the "Dark Urge" origin, whose bloodthirst is hard to control and can lead to accidents. Another early example of somewhere this Oath can be broken is during the encounter with Damays and Nemissa in Act One, with Lae'zel in a cage, as choosing to attack Damays and Nemissa will immediately break the Oath of Devotion.
If you go with the Soldier background, proficiency in Athletics and Intimidation are already granted. In this case, choose instead to go with Insight and Perception, as the game gives players a lot of dialogue checks involving these two skills.
