Soldier (Athletics, Intimidation): Trained in various battlefield strategies, the Soldier is both brave and smart in the heat of battle. Their Athletics Proficiency allows them to perform incredible feats of strength, while Intimidation allows them to scare people into submission.

Players can pick up The Blood of Lathander at the Githyanki Creche during Act 1 too, which is a powerful mace that seems tailor-made for a Light Cleric. This legendary +3 Mace sheds constant light, blinds fiends and undead, and allows its wielder to cast Sunbeam once per long rest. It also provides emergency healing to prevent the Cleric from falling unconscious once per long rest.

The Githyanki are a severely underrated racial choice for most classes, as their innate race spells and Astral Knowledge passive, plus armor and weapon proficiencies, can open up a lot of doors for traditionally non-martial classes. Wizards have no shortage of spells to choose from, but they can be lacking in spell slots.

Lightning Damage is the way to go with Conjuration Wizardry even when not multiclassing, since wet opponents will receive double damage from lightning. Cold damage can also be quite effective with the right gear, like the Winter's Clutches Gloves (Act 1, Sold by Lady Esther on the Rosymorne Monastery Trail or given by Sovereign Glut for completing the quest "Avenge Glut's Circle") and Hoarfrost Boots (Act 1, found in the Inquisitor's Chambers at the Githyanki Creche.)

Great Old One Warlocks (sometimes called "Goolocks" by D&D players) make their pact with eldritch beings in the Far Realms whose goals are inscrutable and alien. At level one, a Goolock gains the power "Mortal Reminder," which causes them to frighten the target and all nearby enemies for a turn when they land a critical hit. This can be great for weakening enemy groups, though since it triggers only on critical hits, it can't be relied upon.

At level six, Divination Wizards gain the ability "Expert Divination." This gives them a "prophecy" after a short rest, which is a special criterion that will allow them to regain spent Portent Dice when fulfilled. These can include tasks like defeating a certain kind of foe or inflicting a certain type of damage.

When players reach the Gauntlet of Shar in Act 2 , they can search for a Gilded Chest to acquire the Least Expected . This is a Shortbow with the Darkwell Precision effect, which essentially gives wielders +1d4 Damage to Ranged Weapon Attacks when obscured by shadows. Another interesting addition from this weapon is its Blinding Shot Action, which has a chance of Blinding a tar

Level seven grants some more domain spells: "Death Ward" and "Guardian of Faith." The former restores the target to one HP the first time they would lose all of their HP while the spell is active, and the latter lets them summon a stationary guardian spirit that strikes foes entering its range.

The best Wizard companions in BG3 are Shadowheart as the primary support of the party, Lae'Zel as your melee tank, and Astarion as another melee party member who can do extremely high damage and provide some use out of combat too.

Players should seek out the Spell Savant Amulet in Act 3 to keep in the inventory for emergencies, since wearing it will grant an additional level 2 spell slot and each party member can use that bonus spell slot once per long rest. The Shelter of Athkatla (Looted from Lorroakan in Act 3) provides advantage on saving throws against all spells and lets you cast Mirror Image for free once per long rest, making for an excellent defensive option. That said, the Robe of the Weave can also be acquired from the Tower where Lorroakan can be found , in the same location as Markoheshkir and contained within another orb. This Robe gives the wearer +2 AC and a +1 bonus to Spell Attack Rolls and Spell Save DCs. It also heals you whenever you succeed a saving throw against an incoming spell, which can be handy.

In Baldur's Gate 3 , there are a few spellcasting-oriented Classes that players can choose from – Classes that actually thrive when normal weapons are taken out of the equation. The Wizard is arguably the most iconic Dungeons and Dragons spellcasting class thanks to the breadth of spells they can know.
