If you are dead set on including a character in your party, simply talk to Withers to respec them to one of the optimal Rogue companion classes listed above. This way, you won't miss out on that character's questline, and you won't have to suffer from an improperly balanced party.
The Beast Master subclass gains the ability "Summon Companion," allowing them to call forth a number of different animal companions to aid them in combat. These animal companions are considerably stronger than those summoned by the "Find Familiar" spell. All Companions have the "Prey's Scent" ability, which causes them to deal 1d6 extra damage to a creature marked by the Beast Master's "Hunter's Mark" spell.

Players looking for a strong ranged weapon that fits this build could add in the Fabricated Arbalest during Act 3, which can fire Shimmering Bolts as a bonus action to add a stack of Radiating Orbs to the target. It can also cast Dazzling Ray, which is a beam that blinds all targets it hits and can be recast on subsequent turns (though recasting it runs the risk of burning the Arbalest's Wielder.)
