Assuming players aren't taking levels in Fighter, Sorcerer, or Cleric, their top priority as an Abjuration Wizard should be improving their AC. In Act 1, players can grab the Ring of Protection in Act 1 by helping Mol steal the Idol at the Emerald Grove, collect the Bracers of Defense from the Apothecary's Cellar in the Blighted Village, and then purchase the Cloak of Protection from Talli at the Last Light Inn in Act 2. While at the Inn, buy the Evasive Shoes from Mattis for another +1 AC. These will provide +5 AC total, which raises the Wizard's AC to 18 when using Mage Armor even if they haven't invested in Dexterity (Important note here: They should absolutely invest in Dexterity for even better results.) If using heavy Armor, players can still grab the Ring, Boots, and Cloak for +3 AC. (Unfortunately, the Bracers only work on Unarmored Characters)

Lae'Zel : Best suited for the Battle Master subclass, Lae'Zel can almost singlehandedly handle your front line, drawing attention from enemies and able to withstand attacks better than some other classes.

After clearing out the three Goblin Camp leaders, players can return to Zevlor to pick up Wapira's Crown , which will heal the wearer for 1d6 Hit Points whenever they heal another creature. This can aid with survivability and help to keep a Life Cleric alive longer. Next on the list is a trip to the Underdark, since helping Omeluum to investigate the Tadpole will unlock the Ring of Salving for purchase. This ring causes all healing effects to heal two additional Hit Points, which can be handy early on.

At level two, the School of Transmutation offers "Transmutation Savant" and "Experimental Alchemy." The former halves the cost of scribing Transmutation spells , while the latter allows the creation of twice as many alchemical solutions when performing alchemy (if the Wizard succeeds a DC15 Medicine Check each time.) Players who enjoy brewing their own potions should definitely consider this School.

But aside from useful racial spells, Githyanki give another important benefit to Wizards: armor proficiencies. As a Githyanki Wizard, players can equip Light and Medium armor, a huge AC boost over robes and clothing. The Astral Knowlegde ability can be incredibly useful for Dialogue checks and dice rolls, too.

The Knowledge Domain grants Clerics a variety of abilities fitting for one who serves a God who values Knowledge. Starting at level one, the Cleric gets two additional skill proficiencies chosen from the following four options: History, Arcana, Religion, or Nature. They also get "Command" and "Sleep" as domain spells, allowing them to plant a command in a target's mind or lull targets to sleep.

At level ten, Divination Wizards gain "Third Eye: Darkvision" and "Third Eye: See Invisibility." The first of these grants the Divination Wizard the ability to give themselves Darkvision until their next long rest as an Action, while the second allows them to unmask and potentially reveal any invisible foes within 9m as an action (invisible foes must make a Dexterity Saving Throw).

Bladesong Healing Charges are generated when making weapon attacks, while Bladesong Damage Charges are generated whenever the Wizard casts a spell. By using Bladesong: Climax, the Wizard can spend a bonus action and some movement to leap to a location and cause a burst of damage and healing in a 3m/10ft radius. The damage and healing are determined by the number of charges accumulated, with the damage dealt to all enemies in the radius and the healing applied to all allies in the radius.

In addition to Armor, Weapon, and Saving Throw proficiencies that vary for each class, the pool of Skills you can choose from are different for each class. These cannot be changed once you get past character creation without resetting your build.

For example, the Hat of Fire Acuity would generate two stacks of Arcane Acuity when landing an attack with a weapon that deals fire damage. If the Cleric then uses Divine Strike: Elemental Fury to deal fire damage, this would trigger the Hat of Fire Acuity a second time and generate two more stacks for a total of four.

At level 8, the Wildheart gains "Land's Stride: Difficult Terrain." This prevents difficult terrain from reducing their movement speed. They gain a second Animal Aspect at level 10, choosing from the same list.

At fifth level, Giant Barbarians gain access to Boot of the Giants, allowing them to spend a bonus action to kick a target away. This is a contested Athletics check, just like the shove action, but you can use Boot of the Giants to push enemies that are up to twice the weight you'd be able to shove. You'll also deal your unarmed damage to the target when using Boot of the Giants, which can be enhanced by Tavern Brawler, Martial Arts from Monk, and items like the Gloves of Crushing.
