At level five, a Beast Master gains "Companion's Bond," adding their proficiency bonus to the damage rolls and AC of their Animal Companion. This also causes each animal companion to gain more HP and higher AC, along with some new abilities, as shown in the table below:
The Linebreaker Boots or Boots of Speed work well early on, and you can replace them with the Bonespike Boots, Helldusk Boots, or Disintegrating Night Walkers later on. The Gloves of Hail of Thorns can give you an extra multi-targetting attack early on, though as you continue you'll wanna replace them with the Flawed Helldusk Gloves, and then either the Bonespike Gloves or the Helldusk Gloves after reaching Act 3.
Level 6 gives you access to "Accursed Spectre" , which allows you to raise an allied spectre from a slain enemy who was under the effects of Hexblade's Curse. Depending on the size of the enemy, you'll get a Feeble Spectre, Mundane Spectre, or Primordial Spectre. Larger Spectres have a few extra skills, and all Spectres act as useful allies in combat who can teleport to cursed targets.
Level 1 Hexblade Warlocks also receive the "Hexblade's Curse" ability , which curses a target to receive extra damage equal to the Warlock's proficiency bonus whenever the Warlock deals damage to them. It also reduces the number needed to roll a critical hit against that target by 1, and restores HP equal to the Warlock's Proficiency+Charisma Modifier when they kill the cursed target. A Hexblade Warlock gains Shield and Wrathful Smite as level 1 spell options.
The Urchin background grants proficiency in Sleight of Hand and Stealth, so these two classic Rogue options are removed from their massive list of 11 possible skills. Charlatans lose Deception and Sleight of Hand, while Guild Artisans lose Persuasion and Insight.
While the game's combat was action-oriented, it also allowed players to mess around with various stats and complexities to enhance their combat efficiency even more. To help with their spellcasting, players should also grab the Protecty Sparkswall clothes during Act 1 at Grymforge, which provides +1 to Spell Save DC and boosts their defence while they have lightning charges. For similar reasons, Bg3 Roleplay builds players should consider grabbing the Birthright Helmet and Quickspell Gloves during Act 3, which grant +2 to Charisma and the ability to cast spells as a bonus action (once per short rest) respectively.
