When it comes to equipment, players should first consider the healing equipment that can be easily acquired during Act 1. Beginning with the Whispering Promise Ring, sold by Volo wherever players find him. This ring gives creatures healed by the wearer the "Blessed" effect for two turns, allowing the wearer to buff the party while healing them.

Warlocks are spellcasters whose power is derived from an external power, usually a Patron Devil or other powerful, enigmatic being. Finally, at level 10, an Archfey Warlock gains "Beguiling Defenses", becoming immune to charm.

The Berserker Subclass pairs exceptionally well with the "Gloves of Uninhibited Kushigo", which boost the damage dealt by improvised and thrown weapons. Used in conjunction with Enraged Throw, this can allow the Berserker to further dish out damage using whatever's close to hand. All Barbarian Subclasses will also get plenty of use out of the "Wrath" magic items, which allows them to build up a stacking damage bonus by taking damage and raging. At level six, a Goolock gains the ability "Entropic Ward," allowing them to impose a disadvantage on an incoming attack as a reaction. Should that attack miss, they then gain an advantage on their next attack against the failed attacker. This can be used once per short rest.

Level six War Clerics gain "Channel Divinity: War God's Blessing," allowing them to grant +10 to the attack roll of a nearby ally by spending a Channel Divinity charge. Level seven gives them the Domain Spells "Stoneskin" and "Freedom of Movement," allowing them to give a creature resistance to (non-magical) piercing, bludgeoning, and slashing damage, and allowing them to grant immunity to movement penalties from all sources.
