First impressions When it opened in 1924, awed journalists wrote up the palatial country house hotel as a ‘Riveria in the Highlands' and ‘the eighth wonder of the world'. So you'll be getting that it's large and impressive - even by modern standards.
USP Gleneagles is all about opulence and glamour. The ballroom was the venue for a 1994 showcase (for Sony music executives) performed by a very young - and very drunk - Oasis. Back in 1955, the same ballroom provided the backdrop for a Christian Dior runway show.

Bathroom goodies The hotel takes inspiration (and ingredients) from its vast estate to create products: so there's Gleneagles Scotch Heather shower gel, shampoo and conditioner; Silver Birch hand wash and lotion.
Extracurricular activities So many, but don't miss the birds of prey experience (it's called Gleneagles, right?). We were guided around the grounds by Harris hawks called Harry and Luna. The birds shake their tails to tell you when and where you can move. It's like being herded… from the sky. Completely fascinating.
