How to Submit MCom Project at IGNOU (Step-by-Step Guide)



The MCom Project is an important component in the IGNOU Master of Commerce programme. Students have the opportunity to use the skills they've learned in real-world research or business scenarios. Many students are confident about creating their project, but when the time comes to to submit the project they are faced with confusion. The most common questions are "Where to submit?", "Which documents are needed?", "Do we need a guide's signature?", "What if any page is missing?" All of these are fairly common.

1. Before Submitting, Make Sure Your Project is Prepared Correctly



Submission becomes easy when your project is complete in the correct format. Check that the following elements are addressed:





  • Your topic has been approved and is relevant to MCom





  • Your project has been prepared in accordance with IGNOU requirements.





  • The guide has been evaluated and acknowledged your work





  • All necessary certifications are attached





  • You've got both hard copy as well as Soft copy

2. Where Do You Submit Your MCom Project?

Projects should be submitted to the IGNOU Regional Centre

5. Hard Copy Project Submission - Step-by-Step



If your Regional Centre is accepting the project in physical form, follow this order:




Step 1: Print and Bind the Project





  • Print on A4 paper.





  • Good margin spacing





  • A nice print (single or double sided, both acceptable)





  • Hard or spiral binding (hard binding looks more formal)





  • Cover page should include title, your name along with your enrolment code, program session, the name of your RC






Step 2: Arrange Pages in Proper Order



A highly recommended order is:





  1. Cover Page





  2. Student Declaration





  3. Guide's Certificate





  4. Acknowledgement (optional)





  5. Table of Contents





  6. Introduction

  8. Findings, Suggestions, and Conclusion

Step 3: Visit the Regional Centre



Follow these steps:





  • One properly bound project





  • A photocopying set (some RCs stamp the duplicate as proof)





  • The IGNOU ID card you carry. IGNOU ID card





  • Form for submission (available on RC)






Step 4: Submit and Take Acknowledgement



Once you've handed in your project, request a stamped acknowledgement or receipt. This proves that your submission has been received and can be used in the event of any issues with tracking later.




6. Online Submission - Step-by-Step



If IGNOU permits online submission of each cycle you are in, steps are usually similar to the steps below. The portal link is shared informally at the time of notification.




Step 1: Prepare the PDF





  • Scan the project neatly





  • All pages can be combined into a Single PDF





  • File size should usually be under 100 MB (check the circular)





Make sure that the page isn't bent, cropped, or upside-down.




Step 2: Rename the PDF Properly



Format:

Step 3: Upload on the IGNOU Portal



Please fill in the required information:





  • Your name





  • Enrollment number





  • Regional Centre





  • Programme code





  • Contact details





  • The title of the project





  • Guide details





Download the PDF and submit.




Step 4: Save Acknowledgement



Once you have uploaded the file, download or capture the confirmation of submission. Keep the PDF along with confirmation by email as well as Google Drive.




7. Who Can Be a Guide for the MCom Project?



A common doubt students have to answer is "Is my guide eligible?"



IGNOU guidelines generally require the guide to hold one of the following:





  • MCom or MBA or CA or CMA with teaching or industry expertise





  • Faculty members from a recognised university/college





  • An experienced professional with relevant experience in the field of project
